The Malaysia railway – Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) station at Tanjong Pagar went down in history at the end of June 2011. My deepest memory of this place – I took a train from this station in 1999 to Kuala Lumpur by myself – to visit my then boyfriend now hubby! My mum sent me off at the train station. Apparently that was my mum’s only trip to the KTM station too!
It was a little crazy thinking back … it was an overnight ride. I merely clutch on to my bag and tried to stay awake as the train made numerous stops before reaching my destination. Now a mummy myself – I wondered if I will ever let my children take a midnight train to a foreign place all by themselves at the age of 19…. Am I just paranoid? :S
Anyway, like many others, we went to the station to take some photos and bid farewell!
The architecture:
The signs and sights:
The people:
(to ensure we “have been there”! haaa…)
And of course the railway itself:
For those who are keen to trek the railway tracks – part of them are still open to public – http://www.ura.gov.sg/railcorridor/schedulework.html.
We “trekked” the tracks once too:
Bye memories!
