I had always wanted to try the dim sum at Victor’s Kitchen for the longest time. Heard that it is almost equivalent to what you will find in Hong Kong and the queue is always very long. We went there on a weekday and just before lunch so didn’t need to wait at all! And it is actually really quite yummy and you can find some dim sum which are not sold elsewhere!
Photos of the yummy food:
Glutinous rice – Highly Recommended! The rice is totally infused with the lotus leaves’ fragrance.
Prawn in Fried Beancurd Skin – Crispy and fresh with a nice appetising dip
Special Order – Veg and Century Egg Porridge (‘cos mum is a vegetarian) – Taste normal.
Phoenix claws – One of my Favourite!
Chee Cheong Fun with prawns. Usual Suspect. Taste ok…
Cha Siew Pau with wine sauce. Ok… Not mind blowing.
Drinks – Stocking Milk Tea and Hot Ice Lemon Tea
Vegetables & Dry Scallops Dumpling – Nice change to usual chives dumplings.
A must order! Custard bun with salted egg yolk! – Super Yummy! A good mix of sweet and salty. Though I do prefer a runnier type of custard, but this is still good!
Almond and milk pudding. Nice texture & taste!
Prices are reasonable as well. We spend a total of $38+ for 11 items; so an average of $3.50 per dish; which is fairly decent for the quality of food. Overall, this shop is worth many more visits!

I was having a msn chat with a good friend – Juner – recently and out of that chat we discovered we shared common weird obsessions regarding our babies.
1) Iwannagohomeandsmellthebabies – That’s Juner’s msn liner and very often mine when I am out working. We share a common weakness for the smell of our babies! Yes, drool, poo, sweat and all. haaa… I also knew a Daddy who is also “addicted” to the smell of babies – that he goes around “stealing” the smell of babies whenever he sees one. We joked that we might need some rehabilitation here!
2) Swift-er ears – We pride ourselves as having swift/long ears which can pick up our babies’ smallest whimper from miles away. We like to think that mummies hear, smell, react and know best. hahha… some big female ego here.
3) Smelling the rosebud butt – I thought I was the only one who does this…. And then I found a like-minded person! We are the official “smell-er” at home. The one who is task to smell the little bottoms if they poo-ed. Weirdly, some amount of cheap achievement is derived out of ace-ing the correct “divination” when the poo is revealed. 😀
4) Observing the poo – That’s another fun thing to do! hahhaa … We love observing that lumpy, gluey, mushy stuff that appears on the diapers. To ascertain if that carrot, sweet corn or spinach had been successful digested! And if not, we will try to play sleuth to discover which suspects didn’t get digested.
That were about all we managed to muse about within the short chat. 🙂 Till future chats and discoveries. 🙂 🙂
P.S: One of Xi En’s “in the act” – We are still struggling to get him to sit still on the potty!
Just to record down more of Xi En’s 1st birthday celebration which I missed out on the earlier post:
Many were asking me where the yummy cake and pastries were from. I was blog-surfing and remembered reading a recommendation on Ed’s blog. So I decided to give it a try! The cake is from Pat’s Pastry but the design (ONE) is modified from another website. 🙂 The filling is chocolate truffle and it is so yummy! I also ordered some mini apple strudels and assorted cheesecakes from the same place. This place is definitely worth another visit!
Food is from Neo’s Garden. Too bad, not related to my family at all. Food was overall average in my opinion. The best dishes are probably the chicken curry and tempura prawn. The rest are so so. They do have a current promotion of 15% off for 1st and 21st birthdays.
3) Vegetarian Food
We ordered some veg food to cater to our guests who are vegetarians. The food is from Simple Food – a fusion vegetarian food outlet. The photos don’t quite do justice to the quality of the food. But probably a better idea will be to eat them while hot or do a full-on vegetarian food catering next time!
Not much. Had wanted to plan some games for the little ones but was too lazy to plan. 😛
So, we bought bubbles for the kids (and older folks too!). Well, it was entertaining for the brief duration while the bubbles lasted. 🙂
Overall it was good to catch up with old friends and relatives. Wished I had more time to chat with everyone though. Till the next year’s birthday! 🙂
