Man and His Ladies’ Bags

How many men are willing to carry your handbags? I know 2 men in my life who are willing to do so! Of course – one has to be my hubby. And the other one – my younger brother! 🙂 How sweet ya??

Some debated that husbands or boyfriends or brothers shouldn’t be carrying their female counterparts’ little or big handbags. But to me – it is a display of love and willingness to serve your loved ones! Nonetheless, I know that men don’t quite enjoy being seen with women’s bags; whether it is a sign of “weakness” or “girly-ness”. Same goes for Kim. He has to always remind me of MacD’s commercial – “You so need a Mega Mac!” – after a man was totally embarrassed while standing outside a fitting room with a lady’s bag.

So… every time I asked for my bag (no matter how tiny or big) to be carried, Kim will lament – “I so need a Mega Mac”. hahaa.. nonetheless, I know he will do anything to help his wife lighten her load. 😀 Well… I try to do my part by buying nicer bags at least. 😀

And.. when you are pregnant – your brother carries your bag too! ha.. 🙂 3 cheers, bro!

So for those men who carries your ladies’ bags – do know that we appreciate and love it! 🙂 Thanks Man (literally) ! 🙂

Week 14 – (Aston’s Specialities)

Finally reached Week 14.

Updates: Saw gynae 2 days back and got a “cleaner” bill of health. Save a small blood clot, all looked good. Baby was still bouncing up and down. Yet to feel the movements; can’t wait! 🙂 Took last jab and scheduled to go back 3 weeks later. Am I glad not to have anymore jabs!!! 😀

So.. to “celebrate” the end of my painful jabs, I asked Kim to bring me for a good meal. Decided to try Aston’s Specialities across the road (East Coast Rd) as we have never been there before. There wasn’t much queue as we were early. Thank God; otherwise I got to queue with my painful a**.

As expected, food was acceptably good and value for money. Of course, we aren’t expecting a Morton’s slab of beef steak but it was tasty enough to warrant a second or even third visit. Instead of paying say, $5 to $7 for dry and flaky hawker western food, I think Aston’s does a better job here!

Kim ordered a black pepper steak, medium-rare (his all time fav) with sides – baked potato and coleslaw. Verdict: Steak is good enough (for the price u pay), baked potato doesn’t come with sour cream but butter (thus drier), coleslaw – ok.

I ordered a black pepper chicken with sausages with pasta salad and mashed potatoes. Verdict: Chicken is lean enough for my taste buds now and black pepper sauce is just nice. Sausages came in a generous serving and firm enough (not too much fatty meat as well).

Pasta salad – ok; dressing not too oily. (but Kenny Roger’s pasta salad has more oophm in them; pity they didn’t serve marcoroni cheese like Kenny’s! my all time sinful fav too!).

Mashed potatoes with brown sauce – not made from fresh potatoes; taste-normal.

So overall verdict:

3.4 to 4/5 stars for taste (depending on what you order)

4.5/5 stars for value for $$$! We spent a total of $23.90 (as described above + 1 caffeine-free root beer!) Definitely worth a try if you haven’t been there before. You bet I will be back. 🙂

Mine - black pepper chicken, sausages, mashed potatoes and pasta salad. (Sorry, I was so hungry that I took a few bites before taking this photo; presentation was better before this!)

Food Galore

Ok… still on the topic of food!! 🙂

2 days back, Kim came back with a mountain of food from JB pasar malam. Have been nagging to him everyday that I want to eat putu piring. We searched at Haig Rd a few weeks back but couldn’t find it. So… he decided to buy them back from JB!! haa…

Not only that, he went and bought tons of other food that are my fav! 🙂

carrot cake that is wrapped in newspapers! A bit sweet, a bit salty; doesn't really match my taste - but Kim loves it.

Chinese pancake (fillings: sweet corn and peanuts , pulut hitam and coconut). Steamed chick peas in the clear bag; those are big and yummy!

putu piring (but they are made of yellow-colored flour;different from Singer style); I prefer the Indon-style type on the right. There is a stall in chinatown that sells this wonderful treats too!

And so… in summary: we had – putu piring, chinese pancakes, carrot cake, bak zhang, chick peas and tau huay!! More than I asked for! Was good, just somewhat different style as sing’s style. I had more than I asked for. 🙂 Oh, did I said that the Tau Huay is even better than Rocher’s!
